Radan Dodich was elected as the President of the World Federation Surgical Oncology Societies (WFSOS) in 2016.

 Radan Dzodic was born on November 2nd1952, inPlesin, Serbia. He is married and father of two children. He graduated from School of Medicine at University of Belgrade in 1978 and became a surgeon in 1984. He improved himself at the “Gustave Roussy Institute”, Villejuif, France on several occasions (in 1981, 1985, 1986, 1989 and 1994 – in total 3 years). He had professional training in Japan in two terms: in 2006 at “NoguchiHospital” in Bepu and in 2009 at “KumaHospital” in Kobe. He has more than 200 published papers, 48 in SCI index base (enclosed in Appendix), which are, together with his original video films, quoted over 1600 times. He wrote chapters for two surgery textbooks, one gynecology textbook, as well as several monographies, most important of which is ‘Breast cancer’. He has performed over 10 000 operations.

He started his engagement in the School of Medicine, University of Belgrade in 1983 as a teaching assistant. He has been a full time professor at the Department of Surgery since 2005, the Head of the sub-specialist education in the field of Oncology since 2009 and the Head of Department of Clinical Oncology since 2014. Since the end of 2013 he holds the position of General Manager of National Cancer Research Center.

 He writes reviews for several world journals (Annals of Surgery, European Surgical Research, Thyroid, Thyroid research, Endocrine Journal). He holds a medal of Academic Palm Knight which was conferred on him in 2002 by the Government of Republic of France, a silver plaque of the International chamber of computer science and design for achievements in thyroid surgery in 2005 and he also holds a medal of the School of Medicine of the JasiUniversity in Romania.

 He takes part in several domestic surgery and oncology associations. He is a regular member of Serbian Medical Society and the Academy of Medical Sciences of the Serbian Medical Society. He is in the Chairmanship of Surgical division of Serbian Medical Society. He was the Chairman of Cancerologic division of Serbian Medical Society in two terms. He is the President of the Serbian Society of Surgical Oncology (SSSO). He is a regular member of Serbian Royal Academy of Scientists and Artists since 2013. He is a member of several world and European surgery associations (European Society of Surgical Oncology – ESSO, International Association of Endocrine Surgeons – IAES, International Society of Surgeons – ISS, EORTC Melanoma Cooperative Group, EORTC Thyroid Study Group and World Federation of Surgical Oncology Societies - WFSOS). He is a member of the Scientific committee of Euro-Asian Society for Head and Neck Oncology (EASHNO) and member of Advisory Board of Asian Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AsAES). He is member and founder of Balkan Union of Oncology (BUON) where he is also placed in the Editorial board. He is in the Editorial board of Oncosurgery. He is Honorary member of Pirogov‘s Surgical Society. He has gold membership at the International Association Surgytec and Ambassador title. He delivered numerous lectures by invitation, one of which was in KumaHospital in Kobe, Japan in 2009.

 He takes part in different research projects as a Project coordinator of „Appui à la Réforme de l’Enseignement Supérieur – education in oncology’ which is financed by French government and concerns university education. Until now, no one in history of Serbian medicine managed to send so many specialists in one field to a single country that has the best oncology in the world.

He takes part in international project on thyroid gland cancer. Project leader is Professor Yamashita, the Director of “Atomic bomb Institute” – in Nagasaki (Japan). He is the chief researcher in domestic and international clinical studies and scientific research projects in the field of skin melanoma (EORTC18952, 18861, 18961), genetic screening for hereditary thyroid gland carcinoma and other types of carcinoma. He has two ongoing studies regarding sentinel lymph node biopsy in papillary thyroid carcinoma and a Pilot study regarding sentinel lymph node biopsy in medullary thyroid carcinoma. He was the chief of team of another project ‘Implementation of screening for breast cancer’ founded by Ministry of health of the Republic of Serbia in cooperation with French Government and National Institute for Cancer ‘LINCA’. He was also Head of Cooperative group for setting guidelines for diagnostics and treatment of breast cancer in Serbia. As of 2014 he is the Coordinator in the field of Oncology in Serbia
